This letter is a response to an article that was published in The Mercury stating that the
“previously advantaged”  should apologize to the “previously disadvantaged” for apartheid…

We are sorry that our ancestors were intelligent, advanced and
daring enough to explore the wild oceans to discover new countries
and develop them.
We are sorry that those who came before us took you out of the
bush and taught you that there was more to life than beating drums,
killing each other and chasing animals with sticks and stones.
We are sorry that they planned, funded and developed roads,
towns, mines, factories, airports and harbours, all of which you now
claim to be your long deprived inheritance giving you every right to
change and rename these at your discretion.
We are sorry that our parents taught us the value of small but
strong families, to not breed like rabbits and end up as underfed,
diseased, illiterate shack dwellers living in poverty.
We are sorry that when the evil apartheid government provided
you with schools, you decided they’d look better without windows
or in piles of ashes.
We happily gave up those bad days of getting spanked in our all
white Schools for doing something wrong, and much prefer these
days of freedom where problems can be resolved with knives and guns.
We are sorry that it is hard to shake off the bitterness of the
past when you keep on raping, torturing and killing our friends and
family members, and then hide behind the fence of ‘human rights’
with smiles on your faces.Killing more previously advantaged

- and succesfull - farmers per year than soldiers being killed in the war in  Irak.

We are sorry that we do not trust the government… We have no
reason to be so suspicious because none of these poor “hard working
intellectuals” have ever been involved in any form of “corruption or
irregularities”.
We are sorry that we do not trust the police force and, even
though they have openly admitted that they have lost the war against crime
and criminals, we should not be negative and just ignore their
corruption and carry on hoping for the best.
We are sorry that it is more important to you to have players of
colour in our national teams than winning games and promoting
patriotism.
We know that sponsorship doesn’t depend on a team’s success.
We are sorry that our border posts have been flung open and now
left you competing for jobs against illegal immigrants from our
beautiful neighbouring countries.
All of them countries that have grown into economic powerhouses
after kicking out the ‘settlers’.
We are sorry that we don’t believe in witchcraft, beet root and
garlic cures, urinating on street corners, virginity testing, slaughtering
of bulls in our back yards, trading women for cattle and other
barbaric practices.
Maybe we just grew up differently.
We are sorry that your medical care, water supplies, roads,
railways and electricity supplies are going down the toilet because
skilled people who could have planned for and resolved these issues
had to be thrown away because they were of the wrong ethnic
background and now have to work in foreign countries where their
skills are highly appreciated.
We are so sorry that we’d like this country to fulfil its potential so
we can once again be proud South Africans.

PS In the old regime… we had lights and water

HOWEVER

If you cross the South African Border illegally you get;
* a job,
* a drivers license,
* a pension card,
* welfare,
* credit cards,
* subsidized rent or a loan to buy a house,
* a free education and
* free health care.
Perks include
* weapons of your choice.
And in South Africa you can
* murder,
* use drugs,
* drink and drive,
* steal,
* rape

BUT PLEASE South Africans, DON’T SMOKE – in public it is illegal

We left for Hatfield square at around 12 where we spend the rest of the night partying.

‘n Lekker besige naweek!

Saterdag het ek in my nuwe plekkie ingetrek en sondag bietjie partiekie omdat

ek elke jaar net mooier en mooier word!!!

Dankie vir al my vriende en familie wat daar was en vir al die oproepe en mooi boodskappe!

Maar ongelukkig is ek nou een van daardie moeilike persone
wat wil selfstandig wees en voel dat ek op my eie moet bly
en vir myself sorg! Ek ken ‘n paar ouens wat nie ‘n werk
het nie en nog by hul ouers “spunge.” Alhoewel ek werk vir wat
ek kry en het, soek ek nogsteeds my afhanklikheid.

So, die eerskomende naweek trek ek en Hentie in ‘n nuwe plek
in en ek is sooo opgewonde daaroor! Sal ‘n paar fotos oplaai
sodra alles in plek is.

My planne om Augustus VSA toe te gaan is nog in plek, ek
het nog net ‘n bietjie politiek om uit te sorteer, maar ek
sal daar kom! Niks en niemand gaan my terug hou van my
drome af nie!

1. Picture yourself lying on your belly on a warm rock that hangs out over a crystal clear stream..

Too many people put off something that brings them joy just because they haven’t thought about it, don’t have it on their schedule, didn’t know it was coming or are too rigid to depart from their routine.

I got to thinking one day about all those women on the Titanic who passed up dessert at dinner that fateful night, in an effort to cut back. From then on, I’ve tried to be a little more flexible.

How many women out there will eat at home because their husband didn’t suggest going out to dinner, until after something had been thawed? Does the word ‘refrigeration’ mean nothing to you?

How often have your kids dropped in to talk and sat in silence while you watched ‘Jeopardy’ on television?

I cannot count the times I called my sister and said, ‘How about going to lunch in a half hour? She would gas up and stammer, ‘I can’t. I have clothes on the line. My hair is dirty. I wish I had known yesterday, I had a late breakfast, It looks like rain.’ And my personal favourite: ‘It’s Monday.’
She died a few years ago. We never did have lunch together..

Because Americans cram so much into their lives, we tend to schedule our headaches. We live on a sparse diet of promises we make to ourselves, when all the conditions are perfect! We’ll go back and visit the grandparents when we get Jimmy toilet-trained. We’ll entertain when we replace the living-room carpet. We’ll go on a second honeymoon when we get two more kids out of college.

Life has a way of accelerating as we get older. The days get shorter and the list of promises to ourselves gets longer. One morning we awaken and all we have to show for our lives is a litany of ‘I’m going to,’ ‘I plan on,’ and ‘Someday, when things are settled down a bit.’

When anyone calls my ‘seize the moment’ friend, she is open to adventure and available for trips. She keeps an open mind on new ideas. Her enthusiasm for life is contagious.. You talk with her for five minutes, and you’re ready to trade your bad feet for a pair of roller blades and skip an elevator for a bungee cord.

My lips have not touched ice cream in 10 years. I love ice cream. It’s just that I might as well apply it directly to my stomach with a spatula and eliminate the digestive process.. The other day, I stopped the car and bought a triple-decker. If my car had hit an iceberg on the way home, I would have died happy..

Now.. go on and have a nice day. Do something you WANT to… not something on your ‘SHOULD DO’ list. If you were going to die soon and had only one phone call you could make, who would you call and what would you say? And why are you waiting?

Have you ever watched kids playing on a merry-go-round or listened to the rain lapping on the ground? Ever followed a butter fly’s erratic flight or gazed at the sun into the fading night? Do you run through each day on the fly? When you ask, ‘How are you?’, do you hear the reply?

When the day is done, do you lie in your bed with the next hundred chores running through your head? Ever told your child, ‘We’ll do it tomorrow.’And in your haste, not see his sorrow? Ever lost touch? Let a good friendship die? Just call to say ‘Hi?

When you worry and hurry through your day, it is like an unopened gift….
Thrown away… Life is not a race. Take it slower. Hear the music before the song is over.

Just wanted to say that Carlene moved in with me so I had to appoint another maid.. Here they are…

We still have 2 months of winter left but I don’t know if I’ll make it!?
Luckily in SA the summers are longer than the winters, unfortunately
the coldest 2 months are lying ahead of us!!!

My baby’s body work will hopefully be finished today and then I can start preparing it for spraying.
Then I need to take it to an upholster to make me a roof – not driving around without one!!!

This weekend started off with a quiet Friday night at home – nobody did anything seeing that Saturday was Adriaan’s funeral. Saturday morning everyone attended the funeral and said their last good bye’s. Now we can all go on and remember him for who he was.

After the braai, we headed back home where I had a drink with all Adriaan’s buddies and then went back to Ada’s place. Sunday was a lazy day for me at home – watching TV in bed. Later that afternoon Johan, Elize, the kids and myself went to a restaurant to celebrate fathers-day (very nice seafood restaurant) and then I went to Bushpub to say hello to everyone. Had a nice time and headed home at about 11 to close of the week.

This week is the “Boob Run” so I’ll take some pictures
