F#k ou, steek uit!

Another hectic weekend – still hurts when I think about it!!! Friday evening we kicked off with a party at the Westrand’s clubhouse – Die Bos! (Also known as Bushpub or Milkwood.) We had Dart playoffs but unfortunately Jaws took me out in the first round. Up for grabs were two meat hampers, but because of all the blood in my alcohol stream, I didn’t even see who won! Our Westrand First Lady, auntie Heather, made her mouth watering soup and after that we hit the dancefloor! Mom and Dad left and shortly after that I decided to go home and sleep it off!!!
My head was killing me Saturday morning but unfortunately I had responsibilities and had to go to work! I closed up shop at around 3pm and went straight home to relax in front of the TV. Later that evening we had a braai at home and after that I decided to go to bed.
Just before midnight I heard someone knocking on my back door, it was Anthony giving me the bad news… My cousin Adriaan who stayed with us, was in a fatal car accident… He had lost control of his car at a high speed and after taking out a tree, landed underneath the car and broke almost every bone in his body. A lady staying nearby ran over and he had just enough time to tell her to phone his family, tell them his sorry and asked God to forgive him before he passed away.He was only 19years old… May God be with you and your family!
On Sunday I joined my father on a breakfast run at Route 66 where we had a couple of drinks and headed back to Die Bos. There we enjoyed a nice potjie and a couple of drinks and then finally went home later that evening.

Thanks everyone for the weekend and my deepest sympathy towards the family!!!

Chow for now,

Hunting Weekend

Posted: 26th May 2009 by Marius in Everyday News

Heya everyone!

The family and I went to a game farm in Tosca – Kalahari this past weekend to get some “dak Vleis.” We arrived there on saturday morning at 2 and had a couple of drinks around a huge fire. We all got in bed at around 4 and went out to the bushes at 7. My dad shot a kudu and we drove around for a while looking for something else. We headed back to camp and had a nice lunch before heading out to town to get some supplies and watch the rugby game. What a game!

That evening we had a couple of drinks (too much) and went hunting for whabbits! We shot one after chasing him through bushes – what a mission! Don’t know why I thought I could catch hime after a couple of drinks….

On sunday morning both me and
john shot each of us a springbuck and then chased after a herd of blouwildebeeste but they were unfortunately too wild!

We packed our bags and headed back home at around 5 that afternoon. Thanx everyone for a great weekend! For now it’s back to work.

Chow for now!

Cold weather

Posted: 19th May 2009 by Marius in Everyday News

As winter is approaching, it’s getting colder and colder here in JHB! It’s times like this I miss Pretoria and even Zambia. Luckily some of my jackets are huge, so I can wear 2 T-shirts, a pull over, a jersey and a jacket… but still the cold seems to creep up on me!
And the worst of it all is that some of my colleagues are walking around in T-shirts and shorts!

I will be starting with my new home’s renovations shortly – I need to be out of my existing place by the end of June. The new place has more windows facing the sun so I’m really excited about moving. It has a really big kitchen, living room and a massive bedroom. I’ll upload some photos once it’s done!

For now I have to go look for a nice big heater!

Red Heart Riders – Day Jol 2009

Posted: 11th May 2009 by Marius in Everyday News

Hey everyone!

This Saturday we had an excellent time at the K-Dorp West Burger Centre with the RHR Day Jol 2009. With MCC’s like Brotherhood, Scream, The Crew, etc. the day was packed with fun, laughter and lots of prizes.

People normally classify bikers as ruthless, mean people but they are more like boys that never grow up. You do get your “rougher” type of guys, but most of them are just ordinary folks that’s looking for a good time!

After an action packed Saturday, I took the mother and went home, got to PTA and fell asleep. Sunday we enjoyed a nice and quiet Mothers day at home and dad cooked a nice Sunday meal… mmmmm!!!! After a nice Sunday afternoon snooze I headed back home to get some rest for another busy week at work.

Thanx to mom and dad for a nice weekend, looking forward to the rally this weekend!!

Thats it for this week,

Cheers,

My tjor

Hey guys, some people like sports cars, other like BIG vans… well my dream car for the last century has been a Jeep ( Like used in the army)!!!
Well my dad, Johan bought me one and yeah it doesn’t look like much at the moment, but you just wait and see!!!
Firstly, I’m gonna do a color change, maybe army green or camo…?! Then I’m gonna take off those tiny excuses for wheels and put on ‘em BIG ones! Then I’m gonna replace all the bars with chrome ones and throw in some leather seats!
Also taking out the Ford V6 engine and replacing it with a toyota D4D diesel engine (Big and strong for all those beaches in Mozambique)!!!

I’ll try to keep you guys updated regulary as I progress.

I’m off to bed, so cheers everyone and sweet dreams!!!

Heya!

Trying to update my flash site became a hastle… too much work for a busy guy like me. So now I created a wordpress site and hopefully it’s easier to update!

What a hasstle to get everything up and ready I must add! Firstly, I realized that my current ISP package doesn’t support MySQL and to upgrade to a package that does was way too expensive!!! I then decided to change my ISP to a cheaper one… found host4africa.com and everything was set!!! ….. except for the fact that I now had to manage my own domain… So I got a local registrar to manage my domain, transfered it to them and updated my DNS settings!

At last everything seems to be up and running smooth! You can’t imagine how much I learned throughout this entire process… so if you wanna know something, ask me! lol!!!
